During the party...

 Yup... that's my Julie...
To create an atmosphere that everyone enjoys and is surprised by... that is all one can hope for when creating something for another.

Mission accomplished.

40 40 40

How do we turn this space into a chic "HOUSE" party space with no time to spare?

With a swhish of a wand...

From this...

 TO THIS!

Say Hi to Joe... it's his 40th birthday. "Hi Joe!"

He wanted to turn his apartment into a cool "HOUSE" party.  He didn't want to host his 40th birthday party at a bar, or a club because he wanted the people he treasured most to join him in his favorite place.  His home.  The problem?  Joe's apartment just lacked that finished "party" atmosphere.

Well... that's where I come in!  (((Where's that wand???)))
Above, Joe is seated in the before shot.

Below... is the process.  Walls draped in curtains to cover the closet and dress up the walls in soft elegance.

Working on the New layout...

AFTER.... before the guests arrive...

Lots of new Pillows, new over sized lamp set in place, photographs hung, curtains drape the corner and silver trays placed on bench to create a table.

 BALLOONS... lights do glow...

 Glowing in the city.

During the process... I really wanted to showcase who Joe is so I took a bulk of the budget to personalize his space with things that he could also keep after the party.  Joe's photographs set in frames and set above the television.  It creates a clean finished flow and now Joe's personal gallery.

Lighting added and casually draped over the television console

Thanks for creating these cool solar lights, Ikea.

And what shall we do here?

Joe is inspiring so here goes....
I decided to spread more of his photographs that he has taken during his travels, his family, himself and add some of his favorite things all over the wall.

Almost there...

Starting to set the table with yummy food and yes, it's a happy place....
Add a monkey and DONE!

Penny is ready to tend bar.
READY SET GO!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOE!!!

Hopefully I will have more during the party pics from all of the
guests.  First, let's give them some time to recover.
In the meantime, we can't allow it to go back to the before just because the party is over.

Right?

She inspires me!

I would like to introduce my littlest client... and my current favorite!!! Is she not the cutest???  Just Look at that face!  I am mush with her, but don't let that smile fool you... she knows what she wants and is not to be messed with.
She likes color and she loves her books.  Above all, we have to keep her friends around...she's quite the entertainer.
Her room...we are almost there.  Curtains and a few accessories and organizing but so far... this little fashionista is happy and pleased with the work we have all done.  WHEWWWW!

Sitting in the studio?

Sitters Studio

Before

 After
At the start of this project, we aimed to create a creative space that will allow you to run around freely while being within a happy space.  The challenge? It's an artist studio most of the time. Large groups of actors come in and rehearse so floor space is essential.  On the flip side, it would also be a space for client meetings and must be presentable.  We set out to create a space that was simple but imaginative.  Elegant, yet whimsical.  After all, this is an artist nanny studio.  A place where moms can walk in and say to themselves... they are a happy group... a fun group and most of all a creative group.  I would like them to add a world of creativity to my child/ children... while actors who borrow the space can easily push furniture to the side and work on their craft.  The other challenge... elegance and durability is a hard blend.  I worked on trying to meet in the middle.

Working incredibly hard through it all...

We couldn't put a lot of furniture within the room because it is a rehersal space, so we put a lot of attention and detail all around the room.  We painted floors and taped walls... we did it all.  The beauty with creating a commercial space... why would you want it to look like home?  We brought the outside in.

PAPER FLOWERS!

I cant wait till we make another batch of flowers!

I DO!!!!

I am not an event planner but I will decorate anything that will inspire me and Uchenna (my client) truly inspired me.  Uchenna asked me if I would decorate her wedding and I hesitated at first because I have never dabbled in doing a wedding but let's be honest, that has never stopped me before.  So why would I allow that stop me now?  Besides, it was such an honor to be asked.  Anyone that would trust you to decorate their home is amazing but to decorate their wedding.... that BIG day... I had to.   I couldn't say no.  I wouldn't want to say no. Such an honor...so we set gears to turn the Museum of the moving Image into a romantic haven.

So prop hunting begins on a budget.  Fresh flowers would've been at least 20 times the amount of our paper flowers.  Time consuming and hand cramps developed from the making of our paper flowers but truly well worth it.  We also picked many fun things and sprayed painted in gold.  We spent many days painting. OY  Its very likely I created a new hole in the ozone.  (((SORRRYYYY)))

BELOW- Not So pretty paper bridge.  BTW, it was a puzzle with any pieces.  Took little bit of time to put together and was a head scratcher but it was fun and worth it.

AFTER-Covered in Gold!
Meow!

Now back to nervous but let's define that.  The museum closes at 7p.m. and wedding begins at 8 p.m.... that left us one hour to set up.  Yes!  One hour.  See the blank room below?  One hour...  Did I already mention that?
We only had an hour to set up the space (((I know I already mentioned that)))  It was soooo very scary and to be truly honest.... I was very nervous.  The last thing you want is to disappoint... especially on a day such as this. Can someone stop the time?  Send me 20 extra hands?  Ohhhhh my...

BUT somehow we did it.  WE DID IT!!!  A few oops but we did it...

A Tour before guests arrive...
